Giorgio Van Meerwijk’s sculptures are often made from natural materials that at times are buried and then dragged from the earth like some ancient relic. His work considers ideas of liquidity, transformation, reception and gathering.
Giorgio Van Meerwijk (b. 1998, Toulouse, France) earned his BA in Fine Art and History of Art from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2020 and his MFA in Sculpture from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2023. His work was included in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2020 exhibition, hosted by South London Gallery, London and has since featured in group exhibitions in London, Newcastle and Scoppio, Italy.
